Health Magazine says they have 3 secrets to a good night's sleep. I read the article and there is some good advice.
#1 The Mattress Matters - I concur with this one. My husband tossed and turned, constantly waking me up, woke up achy and unrested. After years of struggling with terrible night's sleep on a cheap double size mattress, my husband and I splurged on a brand new queen sized Tempur-Pedic. It has been somewhat life changing for us. My husband's tossing has diminished significantly, I sleep through the night (when my daughter doesn't wake me up!) We both feel it was definitely the way to go. But the Tempur-Pedic isn't for everyone, and has one the highest return rates (possibly because they make it easy offering a 90 day satisfaction guarantee). It is expensive, and it is so different than conventional mattresses, it is hard for people to adjust. We woke up feeling a little disjointed the first week ourselves. After that it has been great and we'll never go back.
#2 Pick the Perfect Pillow- This could easily be over looked, many of us are just using the same pillow we have for years. Why are we willing to make a big investment into the mattress, then buy one for $15 at Marshals. Look at it as an investment for your head. (by the way our mattress came with foam pillows and they drive me crazy, I think they are heavy and uncomfortable, so I am back to my down filled softy)
#3 Baby Your Spine- Here they give tips on how to do just that. Your spine is connected to every apendage and needs a lot of care, although it is often overlooked until is is hurting. Their advice is simple and doable for just about everyone.
