Tips from a good sleeper!

I'm a pretty good sleeper. In fact, my husband says I could be a gold-medal olympic sleeper. It probably has something to do with my job. I'm a resident in Ob-Gyn and I have pretty long hours. Anyway, I can basically fall asleep anytime, anywhere, anyplace. So here are a few unsolicited tips...

1. Wake up early during the week.

Force yourself to wake up at a specific time each day, regardless of what time you went to bed the night before. If your excuse is that you "didn't hear the alarm clock" (yeah right), turn it louder and put it in your mind that you are have to wake up when the alarm goes off.

2. Exercise

I always sleep better on days that I have gone to the gym.

3. White noise

I used to turn a fan on while I slept, even in the winter. The gentle hum of the fan blocked out other noises that pulled my mind into a more "awake/alert mode." My husband got me a white noise machine- it's awesome. I've never slept so well- and that's coming from a girl who's never had trouble sleeping.

4. Choose your temperature

I like to sleep in a cold room under lots of warm blankets- mmmmm cozy!
